Story Line

“Meheret” shows the plight of migrant domestic workers in Lebanon and the inhuman and discriminatory conditions they face as a result of the practices applied by their employers and the sponsorship and recruitment system. The movie highlights the unbalanced working relationship and the inability of the domestic workers to seek justice and to change employment conditions including contract termination. Through using dram "Kafa" aims at reaching the larger public and shedding the light on the legal and social issues of domestic work in Lebanon. The movie takes place during the recent economic crisis, the outbreak of Covid-19, and the recent economic crisis, the outbreak of Covid-19, and the explosion of the Port of Beirut on August 4, 2020.
